About Me.
The questions that guided my sustained investigation were: How can I provoke happiness and a nostalgic feeling when viewing my artwork? How can my audience feel connected to my artwork? My sustained investigation focuses on childhood and memories. My goal is to make my audience smile and look back on their lives when they were kids. My sustained investigation shows so much experimentation, due to the fact I tried and practiced many different processes and layerings. I had to constantly take a leap of faith when I would test if a print would layer correctly on a certain piece of paper, background, or on top of another print. The biggest experimentation was with my piece, “Dancing Queen” because I had to print on such a thin piece of paper. I was skeptical that the paper was too thin to correctly and accurately print the monotype on top. A person who has influenced my investigation is Delita Martin. Delita Martin is a printmaker who incorporates materials and imagery linked to her personal memory and life. She uses many different layers and colors to create her work. I was inspired by her process and her message behind her pieces.
